About Subud Rotterdam
Since 1997, Subud Rotterdam occupies a building built specifically for their needs, and owned by the National Subud Association. It is located in a mostly residential area of a suburb east of Rotterdam. Many of the members live in the vicinity. The site is adjacent to a railway-track, at a few minutes walking-distance from a railway-station. The building has two floors with a total gross floor area of 250m2. The ground floor contains a 110m2 latihan hall, a foyer with pantry, bar and sitting area, an office, plus wardrobe, restrooms and storage space. On the first floor is a 40m2 sitting room, occasionally used as a second latihan space. The garden around the building is relatively small, but has a nice deck in the rear, partly cantilevered over a small canal.
The house is a few minutes drive from the A20 freeway (Utrecht-Rotterdam), exit 16, 'Capelle a/d IJssel / Prins Alexander' (please call for directions); and less then 5 minutes walking-distance west of the "Capelle-Schollevaar" train station. The group currently has 47 members. There are group-latihans three nights a week, regular helpers /committee meetings etc. and occasional special festivities and national gatherings. The office is rented for daily use by Leonard van Willenswaard (Usaha Mulia, MSF, Widjojo). One night a week the space is rented to a yoga-group and occasionally to other, mostly Subud-related, functions. Shortly after the opening there was an u2018open-houseu2019 for the neighbourhood, which was well visited.
